Hey guys, am installing two buderus g115s in a duplex that run independently of one another. I could go on and on in detail (and will do happily at request) but my main question is about the best control system to use. I am a plumbing apprentice and my company brings in a burner tech to do combustion tests, burner setup and wiring. When he arrived he told me that the two tekmar 260s i was planning on using would be a bit redundant considering the boilers would be cold start. I am fully aware of the all awesome features of the tekmar controls and am hesitant to abandon them, although if they truly are redundant putting an extra 600+ back in my pocket doesn't sound to bad. Advice?

Your burner tech is a moron. The Tekmar 260 control is a variable reset control that operates based on outside temperature and the load on the boiler/burner which it then averages and sets a high limit temperature based on a logarithm that's internal to the control. Cold starting has nothing to do with the operation and in fact the 260 operates better with a cold start boiler as it's operating range is greatly increased.

As with anything, though, if it isn't adjusted and installed properly, it may fail to reach its full potential. Hopefully, the guy knows both how to physically hook it up AND program it to work properly for that installation.
