We have sediment issues with our well water that has resulted in our installation of a backwash filtering system a couple years ago. In addition, we have a whole-house water filter in which we use a 1 micron filter. Even with the backwash system, we have had to clean out the toilet tanks every so many months to remove a build up of sediment that still manages to get through the system. Has not been much of a problem until right after Christmas, when the backwash filter seemed to have hiccuped causing us to see greyish water in our toilets. We have our system through Culligan, who diagnosed it as a tank in need of rebedding, which was done and reinstalled. However, our toilet tanks seem to once again, be showing signs of grey water in the tank and toilet bowls, along with accumulating sediment (which is very fine black dirt) and gray water, and my wash is not getting as clean. As the whole house filter has remained relatively clean since the tank was rebedded, we feel that the problem may be a result of the sediment in the pipes. At the suggestion of Culligan, we removed the whole house filter, filled half way with chlorine, and flushed it through the pipes. After a couple days, we're back with the same issue. Maybe we didn't flush it long enough; maybe that wasn't the proper step to take. Water testing shows the water to be free of iron, etc.; in fact, it is very clean water, except for the sediment. . Any thoughts on how to get the water out of the lines or any other suggestions on what the problem could be? Our well guy says that it is definitely a water system issue and not a well issue. . . Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much!
