Hi All,

This is an edit of the original post which didn't make sense ... sorry.

I am wondering whether or not I should add a cleanout on a drain line. In the picture below, I extended an existing shower drain from about 3' long to about 10' long. (It was under a slab, and the existing piping was totally shot due to rust, so I dug it all out and switched to ABS).

I was planning to have a cleanout at the 'Proposed Additional Cleanout' location, but I can't find a code requirement that indicates it is needed or required. I have some memory that it is needed due to the length of the pipe, but now I can't find that info.

Please advise if I need to add it, or if you see anything else wrong.

Thanks!

A wye and a tee are 2 different fittings, and are not interchangeable.

Putting the cleanout there would be a fine idea, but most plumbers would snake through the P-trap anyway.
