Good Day,

I have been researching Trap Primers and found that the PPP units are the most common and reasonably priced.

I am having trouble finding details between their distribution units on the net and wondered if you could pass some advice along for me?

What is the difference between:
  • DU-U
  • DU-U-500
  • DU-4-500

It looks like all of these take a 1/2" MIP inlet but there are no details on the actual outlet differences if there are any.

For what its worth, as far as I am concerned the PPP trap primers just look good to satisfy the inspectors. I have NEVER seen one work properly, especially if the piping is installed properly so there is a MINIMUM pressure drop when any water is used.

There is no difference between those 3 part numbers...

DU-U comes bare.

The others come with fittings...

Suggested Trap Primer and Dist. Unit?

I have a 1/2" pex take off for a basement washroom sink and need to go to three traps from that one takeoff. If the PPP unit is less that satisfactory, what brand would you suggest that would work in this design.

I have at least 12" drop available.

Thanks
- TQ

hj just has a problem with trap primers in general. I have a ppp unit myself.

THe ONLY reliable ones are the "in line" units such as J R Smith, Zurn, etc. They install in the piping TO a faucet or valve and the water flowing through them causes some to divert to the floor drain. I do not "have a problem with trap primers", in general, just those that depend on a pressure differential which might not occur with low flow faucets and proper sized piping.
