My First one piece toilet

I bought a Kohler Cimmarron one piece toilet. I like the simple, clean modern design, and the fact the the toilet is elongated and is a "comfort height" model, easier to get up. ...I guess. It also has the kohler "Class five" flushing system...what that is I don't know. I could have bought a two piece, they are cheaper, but I like the idea of only two possible places to develop a leak, the supply line or drain, no worries about leaking between the tank and bowl.
Are there any downfalls or advantages concerning the one piece toilets????

Ask your supplier what it costs to buy rebuild items for that toilet.
Then check the costs for parts in a conventional toilet.
That's what I look at.
I also would consider it not a problem to have a two piece toilet......

Most new one-piece toilets are easier to install and have less to go wrong.

Older one-piece toilets were different. Some of those had very low tanks that required some funky plumbing.

One of my biggest sellers is the Toto Ultramax one piece toilet.
The tank internals are the same as for the two piece.
The fill valve sells for $8 and the flapper is $10
And check the picture, no tank to bowl bolts to replace!



If you have an "old" low tank Kohler with the funky hardware in ti, it could be much more though.

The Toto one piece toilet is very nice though.

Cost for replaceing the guts on a one piece toliet is very high. I priced a flush valve assembly a while back at Hughs supply, and they wanted, if my memroy serves me correctly 150.00. needless to say the home owner wanted to replace the whole toliet with a two piece toliet.

I just installed a brand-new Kohler Cimmaron toilet. It's a 2-piece toilet.

We have two toilets one-piece design, for about 15 years, functioning with no problems. One-piece design is dependable and easy to clean unlike the two-piece design.

I just installed our Ultramax yesterday and now I'm wondering where I'll be able to purchase replacement parts 5 years down the road that will give the same performance as today.

Are the fill valves and flappers unique for this model? Identical to other Toto models? Or will "general purpose" replacements give the same performance?? I don't recall ever coming across "genuine Toto replacement parts".

Can you get parts for the Ultramax? The answer is YES.

All the parts for the Ultramax are made in the US.

The last time I went to Lowes, they had the flappers for $9.99
the fill valves for $8.99
and the cap assembly for the fill valve for $2.50
They are made by Korky, the major supplier for most of the toilets in the US.
