Hello - I moved into a new home 10 months ago with an ejector pump in the basement. There were some initial problems with the first pump and the builder's plumber replaced it. However, he never returned to seal it. Is this the cause of the horrific odor? Is this something I can do myself? I have some regular silcone caulking - will that do?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

builder's plumber

I didn't think sealing the lid would be beyond my handy realm of skills, even after doing some research on the internet on proper installation of ejector pumps and basins. However, because our township is extremely strick on code, I've contacted the builder and he'll send his plumber back. Thanks anyway.

I was referring to "his" plumber. He may be more of a handyman and not a "real plumber" This is probably why the house smells now.

I understand why you wouldn't want to pay to have this done if the home is under warranty, but why not force the builder to hire someone that will do it right the first time.

I'm not a plumber and am not selling anything, just trying to offer some advice.
