Symmons Model A

I tried to remove Symmons Model A Temptrol handle in order to replace the 23 years old trim with new. However removing that handle proved to be impossible. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The Temptrol handle is only held on by a screw.Of course after 23 years theres probably bunches of corrosion also holding it on.A handle puller might be useful,or it might be necessary to cut the handle off.
