I have a old cast iron tub that I want to try and make a chair out of and I am not sure if it is possible to cut it without completly ruining the porcilein. Do you hve any suggestions? What type of saw would I use?

Well, this is a first for me!

Cast iron is VERY hard. Tub are usually removed by smashing with a sledge.
Saw cutting is not usually done....it just eats blades for lunch. You could probably cut it with an abrasive blade on an angle grinder....a big one. I fear this would damage the porcelain.

Sounds like an interesting task. I think I would use a cutting torch and then have one of those tub resurfacing companies do their magic.

Cutting torches do not "cut" cast iron, they melt it. So, you would not want to try that. A die grinder with a metal cut off blade would be the best thing. It will take a lot of wheels and a lot of time. The porelain will craze at the cut, but you will probably be upholstering it at that point.

i,m also a welder, real one ,certified with shop

go to your tool rental. rent a 14 " gas cut off saw, without blade. tell them you have your own concrete blade. buy 2 carbide metal cut off blades at h.d. same arbor size. use goggles and ear muffs. sparks can start a fire!

i use my concrete saw for metal and masonary, the hilti is designed for both. the rental yard may not know this . good luck
