greetings pump forum,

i am ready at long last to install a pump and pressure tank for my ten foot deep well - 24" shaft. tho this spring has been very wet today the well is full at approx 7' of it's 10' depth.

i am looking at a lowes store Utilitech 3/4-HP 15 GPM Shallow Well Jet Pump and a well saver 20 gallon pump tank - horizontal profile.

i don't know anything about wells or pumps and pressure tanks. i do know that i would like to use 115 volts instead of 220 if at all possible... moreover i do not know how fast the well water is replaced especially in late dry summer... the well is in my garage and i just finished casting in place a 500 lb cement well top 29" tall by 30" in diameter. the well head stands approx 5 feet from the exterior wall of my garage and i intend to frame in this cement culvert thus creating an interior space for the pump and horizontal 20 gallon pressure tank covering the lot with a piano hinged table top to access the well and machinery. the finished result will be a handsome desk top hiding a perfectly serviceable well. naturally i'll be plumbing the pump and pressure tank lines/hoses thingys to fit a faucet that will extrude from the garage wall to the outside garden area.

can i trust the utilitech brand of pump? given the well's dimensions will a 3/4 hp jet pump be adequate and will a 20 gallon pressure tank suffice? this is for garden watering exclusively. what brand of pump/pressure tank would be advisable if the lowes brand is marginal?

attached are images that i hope will illustrate my situation.

all advise is welcome.

thanks,

tws

You would be better off with a Goulds or Sta-Rite, even a Franklin pump. But if there is only 3' of water in that hole, you will be lucky to get 15 GPM. Most jets are dual voltage, you just need smaller wire and breakers with 230V.
