The inspector just failed my basement rough-in because my bar sink drain (1.5 inch) was draining into the 2 inch vent just as it exits the crock. The original roughed-in ceiling vent size is 1.5 inch and there is a reducer in the vent about 4 feet off the floor. All the other roughin looked good. He suggested knocking out the original concrete where the 4 inch drains goes into the crock and adding a wye to connect the bar sink drain. Seems like a lot of work but doable. I am wondering now if a lid with an additonal hole could do the job just as well. Are there code reasons why a drain should not enter the crock from the lid? I am going contact him but wondered what your thoughts are.

drain

One reason would be that the lid will probably have to be removed at some time and that might affect the drain since it would have to be removed also.
