sink pump vent required??

I am installing a utility sink in the basement. I bought a flotec sink pump. My question is, do I have to vent this or can I just cap the vent off? What happens if I don't vent it?

I can't find a vent pipe in the basement to connect to, so I'm hoping to avoid a timekiller.

Not familiar with the flotec pump you have but if it is set up for a vent, then you need it. Otherwise when the pump cycles it will suction with no where to pull air from. Air movement is crucial.

It has to be v ented. they make an auto vent that is spring loaded. cost about $3
