First - thanks to everyone on this forum for helping with pump problems - very helpful :)

Here is my latest question ...

I have a 1/2hp convertible jet pump (do not know brand) which pulls on 175 feet of 1"1/4 flexible black poly pipe. The drop to the lake would be about 10 feet. The best pressure I seem to get from the pump is 30psi (using a 20 gal pressure tank).

Should I be able to get more than 30psi using a 1/2hp pump? I am not sure if the lower pressure (30psi) is because (1) my pump is getting weak or too old, or (2) I am pulling the water too far (ie. 170 feet).

does the convertible pump have a shallow adapter attached to the front of pump?, or is the drive hole plugged and pipe hooked to suction hole? if so, there is no jet nozzle in the system and 30psi is about all ur gonna get.

if there is a shallow adapter on front, take it apart and check the nozzle for blockage.

Thank you for the suggestions. I will check the nozzle for debris the next time I am at the cottage. Will keep you posted on the outcome.
