Baseboard vs. fan convector

My boiler has been piped to have an extra zone. There is an extra value at
the header and an extra return with a cap.
I'm going to run the extra zone along the wall. the basement area is 650 SF.
about 4500 cubic feet.
If I run the base board I have room for 30 linear feet.
If I run baseboard I only need a circulator, themostat and relay.
If I run a fan convector I need all of the above plus the electric line
for the fan.
I'm just trying to take the chill off the basement so it can be used with some
degree of comfort during the winter months.
I usually use the middle grade slantfin and maybe in this case rust resistant slantfin.
Anybody like the convectors over baseboard?

Convectors give off more heat than baseboard per sq area but can become air bound more easily and need a monoflow system if more than one radiator. The fan is another mechanical issue. Some day it will be noisy and will have to be replaced. Baseboard needs lots of wall space. Underground basements remain 52-55 degrees F. so you are correct in just enough heat to take off the chill. If you have normal construction --framed and insulated walls and insulated carpeted basement floors you should be fine with the 30 feet of Slant Fin 30 series baseboard.
