When we run our washer rinse cycle it backs up onto both the tub & toilet. debris comes up the drain of the tub. I've also had the tub back up when the toilet has been flushed. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Your main drain is partly clogged. The washer pumps a lot of water very quickly, and the partly plugged drain can't handle the volume. Do not use chemicals or a DIY snake to try to unclog it, it requires a professional plumber with professional equipment to clear the clog clear to the street. Anything else is likely to make the problem worse. This is one thing not suited to DIY.

Main line needs snaking.
Do you have carpets?
At my daughters home, the main line plugged, and while a shower was being taken, it overflowed the toilet and into the carpets in the family room.
Can you say "new" carpets?
