Hi
Me and my roommates are moving out of our apartment here in a couple of months and thoughts are coming down to how we can get most of our security deposit back.
There is only one place in the house with a problem and that is the bathtub. Most of the floor has chips in what I assume is the paint, but i'm not sure about that at all. The pieces that come off are very thin and fairly flexible to a point. I've got pictures of the tub

All the damage has come from one of the roommates that brews beer and he cleans his kegs and supplies out in the tub. I'm guessing thats where that stain came from as well.
Whats going to be our cheapest option to get this fixed?
Any ideas and advice are greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Damage not your fault, the tub has a finish applied. These are band aids at best. The re-finish has a maximum usfull life of about three years, generally after a year it starts to come up and quickly goes to hell. It is a defective finish applied by the owner or manager to hide a problem prior to your move in. He can either spray on an other coat or replace the tub. But key point is that the damage to the tub is a result of a band aid applied to the tub and not abuse by the tenants.

Maybe true, but the landlord has the deposit, and he can say it was caused by whatever he wants to as long as the tub was in good condition when they moved in. IF they want their deposit, they may have to repaint or coat the tub.

May be better off getting a quote from a company as a reference,
Odds are that they will not talk smack about the previous company.

Hey thanks for the input!
We have fairly reasonable landlords. We've lived here for almost two years now and had the fridge die on us, they replaced it, had the water heater spring a leak, they replaced it, dishwasher broke, they replaced it. Seeing as how they play fair about stuff that breaks due to wear and tear hopefully they will go easy on us haha.
We'll get a quote on how much its going to cost to fix though just in case I guess. Maybe having a second opinion from a local about the band-aid will help reinforce our case.
Thanks again!
