I just replaced a non freeze faucet that had an anti siphon valve with the same type. It worked fine when I installed it. The next time I went to use it no water would come out. It seems to start flowing after a few minutes delay. The old one flowed water right away. Anybody know whats wrong?

Did you leave a hose attached after you installed? If you did, there was still water in the valve and it frozen, but apparently not enough to split the pipe. Frost proof faucets drain the water when the valve is turned off, but if the hose remains attached, it will not drain.

If the well house is unheated, even a "non-freeze" valve can freeze in the pipe feeding to it. If there is not total closure, then the small amount of water flowing through the ice will melt it in a few seconds or minutes. But there should be NOTHING in the faucet itself that would not allow immediate flow, or at most a few seconds delay if something is sticking.

Are you sure it has the proper slope? If not, water may not drain. BTW, there are SOME that can drain with a hose on.

The water does drain out. It just won't give me water when I turn it back on. To make it work, I have to open the valve and tap the inside end where ir joins the copper pipe and then it will start to flow.
