The new contractor forgot to cut out the heating vent, how hard to redo? Thanks.

It shouldn't hurt anything except that room will not get any heat from the duct. It will make a little mess when he does cut it out. Try to vacuum out all of the sawdust from the vent when you get a chance. Note, luan is okay for a floor, but not great if it could possibly get wet. It should not be used underneath tile, though, but works for vinal. The luan is smooth so it doesn't telegraph grain patterns to the soft sheet material usually installed on top of it, but easily delaminates if it gets damp, causing it to swell and create a mess.

Luan is perfect underlayment for sheet vinyl. No matter what the floor, it is just good practice to use a bead of clear silicone all the way around either behind the base molding, or after the base is installed/
