Large Tub Setting bed

What type of mortar are you guys using to set large tubs in? The manufacturer is calling for a mortar bed and I want to be sure I use the correct type. The tub is 3x6 with jets and reheat function.

I just grab a bag of mortar at the hardware store, and place piles under the tub, this way when the tub is dropped down, the piles can squish out.
If you try to guess, and try to make a bed, that doesn't work. Best to not make the bed.

I use the same mud I use on shower pans. 5:1 sand to portland. Sometimes I use Structolite.

I get a bag, or bags, of perfatape cement, slice the plastic so it will air harden then drop the tub onto it.
