Brass nipple for side connections?

I would like to use the side connections on my WH for radiant heat and am trying to figure out if I can/should use brass nipples in the side connects? Are there any problems with this or should I use something else?

If those openings are designed for a solar connection, and are not just alternate supply openings, then brass nipples will work.
