I live in a house that is only 5 years old. Well water is the only option. I was told that the well is 50-60 ft. Supposedly common for this area. Our water is now so full of iron that it actually flows red when not filtered.
Lately, we have been having pump problems. Low pressure. low volume to no flow. I first replaced the switch, this didn't fix anything. Yesterday I went out and heard the pump motor running but we had now flow or pressure.
I decided to replace the pump. Doing this I found that the line to the house was 95 percent plugged with iron. After I replaced the line I primed the pump and plugged it in. Same problem, low pressure (30-40 on gauge) and low flow. I thought that my the check valve was plugged with iron so replaced it as well. New pump, new lines to and from the pump all to no avail.
Any ideas? Could the well be low? I'm not noticing and sand.
Thanks ahead of time,
Steve
