I have a two handle kitchen faucet (see pics). It just started dripping and I'm not sure how to take it apart. It has a "cap" behind the faucet neck so I'm assuming there may be a washer in there. I took pics of it which will hopefully help someone give me an idea if this is an EASY fix. If not, I'll buy a new one. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Is it dripping out of the end of the spout when turned off or, is it leaking at the base of the spout when on...

2 different problems 2 different cures but it is a very easy faucet to repair.

Hard to tell from your pictures, but I would assume it is a Delta faucet, or one of its knockoffs. If so, it does NOT have conventional washers, but is easy to fix. You don't trade your car in when it needs an oil change, do you? However, if the entire faucet is plastic, which is a possibility, then it was someones "buck ninety five special", and you might want to replace it with a metal one.

That faucet is in decent shape and is eminently fixable. Your grandpa would scold you at the idea that a "permanent" fixture like a faucet should be replaced after a few years just because of a little drip!

► The cap on the spout indeed will unscrew to remove the spout. HOWEVER, unless it is stiff or leaking at the base, don't mess with that now.
► Pry off the caps on the tops of the knobs. TURN OFF THE WATER underneath. Take out the handle screw and remove the handle. Unscrew a nut you see there, and pull out the plastic cartridge. Underneath the cartridge, down in the hole, is a rubber seat and a spring. Take those with you to the store. Get new seats and springs. You will usually also find a "kit" which has seats, springs, a ball(not used on your model) and some o-rings which will repair that spout if it needs it.

It drips from the end of the spout!!!

Sorry I didn't give you that info. I'll definitely try taking off the knobs and replacing those rubber rings etc. Thanks Jimbo and everyone else who responded!!!!!

Still drips !!

OK, I replaced the spings and rubber seats at the bottom of each faucet handle. It still dripped so went out and bought new cartridges for each handle and figured that would do it. No luck !! So I put the old cartridges back in and returned the new ones so I didn't waste about $19. Once I put the old ones back in (with the new seats and springs) I monkeyed around and got it to where it only leaks about once every 15 - 30 secs. Is there some trick, or something I'm screwing up, when I put the handles/cartridges back together?? Help PLEASE - it's just that I hate getting beat by a simple problem like this - THANK YOU

Did you buy OEM replacements, or a knockoff? SOme of the knockoff replacement parts are junk.

Not sure !!

I just took the parts to a local hardware store and they provided me with the parts they normally sell for this repair. I bought both the seats/springs and the cartridges separately packaged.
