The pump is a Rigid Aquapro 1/2HP Sewage pump model #SEP500. It had seen very light use since installed less than a year ago. It started last night after someone went to bathroom. The pump would not stop, making a whumping sound, and I could hear the waste thrashing, and the water in the toilet bowl agitatged. I unpluged the motor, waited a while, plugged it back in, and motor stalled. I waited overnight, then plugged in again, the whumping came back. Unplugged, waited, replugged in, motor stalled again.

Can someone help me diagnose this problem? Much thanks!

It sounds like someone left you a present when they used the toilet, possibly something they shouldn't of flushed. I'm thinking this in turned jammed the impeller which will need to have the pump removed, unjam the impeller and at that point make a conscious choice whether you want to replace the pump or put it back in and see how long it lasts. Expect horrible smells along with nastiness. Wear goggles, mask, gloves, or anything else to help in this matter.

Uh, that someone was yours truly. I didn't think I flushed any present down for myself :( But it might be the toilet paper. Damn ~!!~

Do you think those bacteria fluids might be of any help?

Toilet paper is fine, even large amounts of it can be macerated by a sewage ejector pump. I'm thinking along the lines of tampons, panty-liners, "disposable" wipes or Preparation H wipes. Wipes are notorious for balling up and causing problems in sewage ejector systems. Toilet paper turns to mush quite quickly. If you live in the house with multiple users I doubt if you get a straight answer of what might of been thrown down in it, could be anything. Might just be a defective pump, cannot rule that out. I installed a Ridgid sump pump for a customer months ago and the wife called 3 weeks later saying the pump I installed was making a horrible noise. She went as far as holding the phone to the pump. I told her that I would have to charge for my time to come out and look at it since I was told to bring a Zoeller pump. The hubby bought a Ridgid one at the big box store thinking the more expensive one over mine was better. Think not. Never heard the result of the situation but I've been told that there are some quality issues happening with that brand on some of their pump models. I'd have to hear of more cases to be sure of that statement though.
