Toilet and Floor Drain

Water running in floor drain when the toilet is flushed

I work in a high school in Texas. When the toilet is flushed in one of the faculty men's rooms water can be seen running through the floor drain. Is this normal? Is there any reason this would logically occur?

It may be a trap primer that uses water from the flush valve.

It would be a small amount of water that would show up there.

Traps in restrooms are often required to have a way to keep the seal from drying out.
