I'm in the process of renovating a bathroom. The old shower is a Moentrol. What steps are needed to replace it with a Delta faucet or am I better off simply going with a newer Moentrol?

Is easy to replace the cartridge in the Moentrol, and to find new trims for it.

Expect to spend an extra few hundred dollars in labor though if you cut it out and replace with Delta.
If the wall is removed, this will save some time.

While the old valve is repairable, there is such a thing as life expectancy, and if you are putting in a tile job with a 30 year life expectancy, do you want to leave a valve body that is maybe more than half way there already??

The moentrol valve is still available. Another very good choice would be a Delta in the 1700 series. The 1300 series Delta does not give you separate control of volume and temperature.
