is there a better way installing glass block in shower area than in the normal installation in a basement window?
You need a good mortar since the wall is often free standing.

There are grid systems by some manufacturers. Otherwise, you need the special mortar to stack them like bricks. Keep in mind that mortar isn't waterproof, and can wick moisture.
