Hi,
We live in an old farm house in a rural community. The house has a well. It had an old convertible jet pump and an air tank. About 1 1/2 years ago we had an electrical problem in the house. Got that repaired but the well pump stated acting up shortly thereafter because of old wiring. Got that corrected. About 6 months later (a year ago) the pump died. We replaced it. 6 months later, that pump died. After we put in the second pump, we had frequent "blowouts". This is where the pipes from the pump going into the flexible hoses to the well literally blow out. Could not figure out why as pressure would be within normal range. but then it stopped. About 2 weeks ago it started again. A week ago we replaced the air tank with a new pre-pressurized tank (the old one had holes we had been patching over the past year). Then the pump went. We again replaced the pump. Followed all the directions for connecting, priming etc. Was working GREAT. Best water pressure we have had in a long time. Everything looked good.
Then today, it blew out again.
We had good water pressure this morning. 2 hr trip to town and back, by the time I got home it had blown. Fortunately the oldest son heard the pump and turned it off.
We can't keep doing this. Any suggestions for what might be the cause?
BTW we replace the tank with a Flotec 19 gal/42 gal equivalent pressure tank, and the pump with a Flotec 1hp convertible jet pump.
Thanks.
