American Standard Luxor 2003 Repair

I have this 30+ yr toilet (AS Luxor 2003) that is leaking.
The main problem is the white plunger wearing out (removed, but in pic).
I don't want to replace toilet.
Can I use a standard Fluidmaster or Korky repair kit to replace the internals?
If yes, what model on the replacement kit?
I think this is a "vented model", so can I disconnect it for it to work?

You may want to check with plumbingpartsdepot.com

They have a lot of the old parts.
The Fluidmaster 400 isn't going to work for that.

Why do you waste your time with a water hog like this? Even if you can find the repair parts to fix it, the cost of water will soon surpass what a new low flow Toto would cost. Antiques are find for display and nostalgia, but not in a toilet.

I did find the parts online, and it is fixed.

On the reasons why I'm not replacing it: in a rarely used bathroom, and a matching blue bidet.

Can I add some bricks to lower the gpf?

You can try, but no guarantees it will still flush properly. A toilet needs more than just a smaller water dump to flush properly with that lower water amount.

Vintage Luxer 2002/2003 parts

You're in luck when it comes to parts for your Luxer 2003 toilet. I have 2 left and it's hard to let them go. You have good news and bad news in regards to parts for your unit.

Good News- I've been getting parts from a local plumbing dealer in La Habra, Ca for years now. Central Plumbing and Heating. http://www.centralplumbingandheating.com/

Bad News- Be prepared to pay an arm and your left cheek for parts.
Today I went in for an Actuator Button and It's over $100.00 for that part. It's available. I just need the nut the holds the button but I have to buy the whole button assembly. I'll continue to search for a nut.

Good Luck. sandoval10@sbcglobal.net

Bricks won't help much since most of the flow comes from the "rim flush" which is the water connection to the side of the bowl. Replacing the stem and seat is all you have to do. But, replace that rubber "flap" on the side of the tank's well, put a plastic credit card over the new one on the outside of it, and then place the stainless steel clip over both pieces. That will make the toilet fill quickly, shut off quickly, and fill to the proper water level. That is NOT the vented model, so there is NOTHING to disconnect. NO OTHER fill valve will work, and there is no real reason to take that one out unless you damage it. Keep the toilet, it is one of the few models which CANNOT overflow, if the fill valve is working properly. Just do not break the toilet seat, because you will not find a blue one, and a white one will cost about $200.00.
