Hello all-

First time poster, long time lurker. First of all I am glad that I found this forum. Very informative. I am currently the "Plumbing Pro" at the local Lowe's here in Canada. I am not a licensed plumber but I do have 3 years of experience doing HVAC/Plumbing working for a Service Experts in Upstate NY.

I have read this forum with great interest about Toto toilets. When I worked for Lowe's in the US there was a week or so where we were able to special order Toto's and then it abruptly stopped.

Anyhow, currently here I three toilets in the house. The one in the powder room downstairs is a Jacuzzi Perfecta round bowl. I am very impressed with this especially as it was only $138 (Canadian, which in US dollars is about $5....) This toilet can take a lot. For the price it is awesome. The toilet in the main bath upstairs is a American Standard Monarch. Not a fan, it was there when I moved back. In the master suite is a builder's grade Crane 13 litre toilet.

Now to my main point. My Dad is nicknamed the "Toilet Terminator". Sorry for being graphic but when he drops a deuce it is like a russet potato. Every so often he will plug up the Jacuzzi which I have never done. Even after a night of beer, wings and steak. Once in a blue moon he'll bung up the old 13L. Recently we rented a cottage that had a Toto one piece. Never bunged that one up. I was thoroughly impressed. I gave the toilet a salute when we left.....

The only problem that I have with the Perfecta is that when it is bunged up it takes a lot to get it unclogged. More than any other toilet I know of. I just can't get a good seal with the plunger. It is getting to the point where the downstairs bathroom is down for the count for most of the day. At first you plunge the living crap out of the toilet but if you wait a few hours then it is easier. I just installed the Perfecta about 10 months ago but if a Toto will make a big difference I am willing to take the plunge.

I have plenty of experience with the "big box" toilets. I have had rave reviews from customers regarding the Class 5 and Class 6 Kohler's. Same with American Standard's Cadet 3 and Champion 4. Although the Kohler's get the better kudos.

Up here in Canada a Cimarron round front comfort hieght retails for $378 CDN. Any possibility of getting a Toto for around the same price or less?

Cheers,
David

The Toto Drake should be around that price. It comes in a wide variety of styles - different heights, round, elongated, CEFIONTECT, or not. 1.6g or 1.28g flush. And the Drake II has some neat features. Not sure what things cost up there, but check out Terry's front page for some commentary and local prices. You're too far away from Terry's delivery area, but there should be local outlets for the thing. Note, the dealer locator does not show all of the places that will order one for you - it essentially lists showrooms, not neccarrily dealers.

The CEFIONTECT Drake II in the tall height is around $350
It's much better then those at Lowes.

I've been selling the round Drake for $200
