Hi building a new home and we get to pick toilets. Sadly 5 of the beasts!

Friend asked me what kind of toilets I was going to get and we all giggled. He mentioned Toto's flush well. I did a quick search some time ago as someone who is curious and found this site. NEAT! That was a year ago and I've since recommended Toto's to someone else who knew I "shopped" and did research on almost everything I buy (yes, I'm one of those) and they love it but obviously there are several good choices and now it's crunch time for me.

So, they are about the same price, the Kohler actually being a bit less (not enough to matter), they both have an oversized valve opening, they look somewhat similar (we're going comfort height, elongated) and so-on. The salesperson steered me towards the Kohler as it's supposed to clean the bowl better due to a swirling action caused by the ports up top being angled? The Drake fires straight down correct? The Kohler has a small area in front of it's big flow area that concerns my eye, looks like a scrubbing hazard kinda. It's a little plateau (almost a shelf) located in the bowl. Is it an issue? Is either hard to clean? We get a lot of mineral deposits in my area. Black dusty type ring almost sooty once a month cleaning required at minimum.

Anyway, if you had to pick one... ok, five. Would you get Drakes or Cimirrons and give a little reason please.

Thanks,

Based on all information I've gathered from this site and a few others, the Drake has better bowl wash and better clog resistance than the Cimarron.

The Kohler Wellworth has bowl wash that angles around the bowl.

The Kohler Cimarron drops straight down, but misses much of the bowl in back.

The Toto Drake rinses straight down, and does cover the bowl.
You may also want to look at the Toto Dalton, rinse is straight down, comes in the 16.125" bowl height and performs better than the Cimarron.

Of these three, I would rate them
Toto Drake (recommended highly)
Toto Dalton (good value and performance)
Kohler Cimarron (a notch down and bowl wash could be better)
Kohler Wellworth (low end in performance but better bowl wash )

also consider Toto's Sanagloss finish which helps keep things clean. We've had a Drake w/Sanagloss since April and very pleased. While it does get dirty, it stays clean longer. What we really noticed is that in AZ there is a strange red algae that forms in the bowl if you have a sunlight and leave the lid up. Apparently it doesn't like the Sanagloss - haven't seen any sign of it on the new toilet. :D

As a owner of a Cimmarron and someone who installs Toto Drakes weekly, I would rather have a Drake installed in my home for the reasons of bowl cleansing during the flushing process.

Thanks all... appreciate the advice. Salesperson must have been confused on the rinsing action of the Cimarron. Makes the decision to get the Drake easier.

Is the sanigloss available on the Drake? I could've sworn it wasn't a year ago when I started my intel gathering. That or it was quite expensive maybe?

Just got through insulating my hot water loop today. Yuk!

Be safe,

....Is the sanigloss available on the Drake? I could've sworn it wasn't a year ago when I started my intel gathering. That or it was quite expensive maybe?.... Available - YES. but I think color selection is still limited (you did want white, didn't you?). Expensive? you decide - about $40 upcharge as I recall.
