Hi,
got home yesterday, kitchen sinks were overflowing. I noticed little pieces of plastic wrap in water -evidently cut up by disposal- son forgot to take off food he was discarding:mad: after taking off the pipes below the sink- all clean, I could not pass snack very far, but it seemed more due to turn in pipe vs clog-(But I don't know what I'm taking about.). I took off the clean out plug outside, it drained water, than snaked it. got a lot of gooy stuff- including some fairly large pieces retaining the pipe shape, but no plastic wrap. I could pass the snake a good 15feet or so easily with no return of stuff. I patted my self on the back, put everything back together- only to have the sinks retain water again. I it relieved when I pull the clean out plug again.

Is there anything I can do, or do I need professional assistance?

thanks.

Yes i think it is time to get a professional drainman to come out and run a

electric "power" snake though to clear drain !

Do not call one of those big name co's at the front of yellow page add's

look for somebody to the back in the one or two line listings they should treat

you fair and give you a better price !

Yea, their smaller ad says they manage their overhead better and pass the savings on to the customer in most cases...

Too Bad, I'll call someone monday.

But, for the fun of it, Where is the obstruction? I assumed it was between the sink and the clean out. But then why would it drain when the clean out plug was removed. If it was a partial obstruction, why would the sinks not slowly drain? (I only waited 5 min. or so). so then I would think it was on the other side of the clean out, but there was no standing water on that side.

curious minds want to know.

If the obstruction was between the cleanout and the sink no water would have come out of the cleanout when you opened it.
Drain pipes should be dry unless they are in use...

The clog is further than your snake could reach or, it passed through the clog without opening it.
