I have two toilets in my house. The one in the basement flushes very well with one flush, however the other toilet on the main floor seems to have no flushing power. You have to flush two or three times to clear the bowl. Is there anything I can do or do I just need to replace the toilet with one that is more effecient?

We don't know. It could be an adjustment, servicing, or a bad toilet. All will give the same symptoms but the cure/corrections will all be different.

First thing to check is the height of the water in the tank prior to flushing. Is it up to the mark? If not, adjust it and see if it makes a difference. Then, try holding the handle down until all of the water in the tank is released. That may help matters. Are both toilets the same model?
