Good morning. I recently installed a new faucet into a pedestal sink. The new faucet has 1/4" PEX supply lines that are permanently attached to the faucet itself. Since the long supply lines were too long and unsightly to coil, my only option is to cut down the supply lines and attach them to the a shutoff valve. The house has 1/2" copper piping and I'm having difficulties finding a solution that will incorporate the existing 1/2" copper plumbing, a shutoff valve, and the faucet's 1/4" PEX supply line. At this point, I don't own any PEX tools so the SharkBite fittings are looking attractive with their minimal installation fuss and won't require additional PEX tools. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

For almost any brand of faucet, those lines are 3/8 OD, not 1/4, and all the brands I am familiar with come with a 3/8 compression nut to connect to a standard 3/8 outlet angle valve.

On page 40 of this http://www.brasscraft.com/PDF/0300_Water_Supplies_Catalog.pdf they show what is needed for 3/8" OD or smaller tubing. Nearly any compression stop will work with this, if it truly is 3/8" OD. I'd be really surprised if it was 1/4" OD, as the ID would be so small you'd have no decent flow capability. Note, the compression ring that often comes with those stops is brass, so you need to either buy the plastic sleeve separately, or make sure you get a valve packed with the bits you need.

I stand corrected, it's a 3/8" OD. I have absolutely no idea why I was thinking it was a 1/4". I appreciate everyone's help!
