Toilet Venting - Distance to vent

New construction, small cottage with one bathroom, stubbed for a second bath in the basement, 3" main stack going from basement to roof.

The toilet flange is about 8' from the main vent stack. Is it close enough to not require its own vent? Can it be vented with 1-1/2 instead of 2?

It depends on your code. Some limit it to 6' and other codes allow up to 10'. Maybe the bigger question is HOW you piped the downstairs bathroom, because that is where most DIYers run afoul of the codes AND create bad venting issues.

Basement toilet is under 6' from the main vent. Basement has already passed inspection before burial. Now working upstairs.
