I am trying to make money off this money pit I bought from my inlaws! It has one bathroom. I need to add a toilet upstairs in the the unfinished attic room, or in the basement. I decided upstairs, but I was told the plumbing is to small for toilet waste. I would have to spend a lot of money on new plumbing to add a bathroom. I heard about toilet macerators on TV and I cant find any more information. The house was built in 1927 and has a closet with a sink in it up stairs in the unfinished attic, I shi- you not! But no toilet. Is it possible to install a toilet macerator upstairs to avoid the whole re-plumbing cost? I just need to say that the house has more than one bathroom, to profit from this horror investment! HELP ME.

For some info on a popular macerating system by SaniFlow, click here or visit their website at www.saniflo.com.

Zoeller makes a product they call "Qwik Jon" but it requires the toilet to set on a raised platform/holding tank. Of course, the platform/tank could be placed under the finished floor, if you're so inclined. For more information about Zoeller's Qwik Jon, click here.

Both are very effective systems and both utilize a secondary "holding" tank; it's up to you whether you prefer the larger platform-like tank Zoeller uses or the smaller SaniFlow tank which sets beside or behind the toilet. The differences are clearly visible if you visit the links above.

Good luck.
