I bought the SharkBite U3016A slip coupling at Home Depot and was told that I could use it to connect FlowGuard Gold cpcv pipe. After getting home I noticed that the package says "for copper only" as do several web sites I've looked at. Why wouldn't it work on cpcv pipe since all of the other SharkBite fittings do? Any suggestions to make this fitting work?

The slip coupling is designed for copper only because it is just that....slip. One end has no stop, so it can be slipped onto a pipe and a connection made when the two pipe ends are not movable. SO it doesnt have the insert for PEX. It would seem that cpvc would be OK, but the CashAcme website does say copper only, so I would contact them.

Notice that ALL sharkbites are now suffix "LF" lead free. Welcome to our Caliornia world.

It can work on CPVC but don't tell me your using it where it won't be accessible for future repairs.

Copper pipe is more rigid than the cpvc, and if you aren't careful, the scratches made by the gripper teeth on cpvc could compromise it if you didn't retract them all the way during installation. On say a T or a coupling, you may never need to remove it, but on a slip coupling, you do need to slide it at least on one side.
