Hello, I have a problem with siphoning. It happens when the washing machine is draining. The w. machine is located in the basement and the sound of siphoning is heard through the kitchen sink above. I suspect it is due to venting!... All the pipes are 1"1/2, including stack. Both fixture empty into a 2" pipe (12" long) before it exits the house. The vent stack services both fixture but runs under the floor joists before it exits and up along the outside wall. What are my options?

Regards, GT Stellar

The washer will need a vent between it's p-trap and the stack.

My brother used to have a log cabin in Maple Valley that was plumbed together.
The kitchen sink had all kinds of problems until I added a vent for the washer.

Is this the same brother that had you plumbing at his home in DC? Sounds like a wealthly brother to me.

Make sure the washer discharge pipe is not positioned too low.

No, this is the one living in the Spokane area.
He's selling real estate now.
He's one of my younger brothers.
His picture was taken before mine on the left.
Ha ha. He didn't get the hair genes.

I grew up one of five boys and two sisters.
When we get together, there are about sixty of us.

Randy's home now is one he had built, on three acres.
The log cabin was Randy's starter home when he was young.
