View Full Version : How to modify sump pump switch
I have a sump pump that switches with a tether cord. Can I modify that switch so that it runs with a float. The tether is getting hung up. Can I do this? How? Thanks.

The easiest way would be to wire or zip-tie the float switch to the discharge piping so that it is always "on". Then install a piggyback plug switch to operate the pump.
Many of us have had good luck with the SJE Rhombus line. http://www.sjerhombus.com/products/product_info.asp?id=370
can you snip off the float bubble and connect it to a mechanical switch?

Not sure why you would want to-- all the good tether switches have a mercury switch inside of the bubble.
Almost all aftermarket switches connect using a piggyback plug.
