I need to have my sewer cast iron pipes replaced with PVC in my crawl space but I am not sure the plumber will be able to get real long lengths of PVC through the crawl space opening.

For a good installation, does the PVC need to be long as possible or would a number of connected 6 foot sections work just as well?

Right now, my longest run of cast iron pipe is at most 30 feet long. But even these are a set of connections about 10 feet or so.

pipe

as long as the connections are made properly it does not matter. Originally cast iron pipe only came in 60" sections. Then they started making 10' and 20' lengths, but the quality of the jobs did not change.
