shallow well with a deep well pump?

We have a shallow well (25ft) and our pump has given up. So we are replacing is today with a shallow well jet pump...but..here comes the fun part..there appears to be twin pipes coming out of the wall into the pump. I was under the impression that this only occurs with a deep well system. Anyone know what is going on here? I am going to take pictures now.

probably has the jet in the well.

You should have purchased a convertable jet pump with two pipes out the end. A shallow well pump won't work with your setup.
