Moentrol spool problem help

Any tips on removing the moentrol balancing spool? I've tried a large screwdriver and a flat wide chisel with no luck. Also sprayed with white vinegar? Need to get this out without stripping help??

I have had luck by "drifting" it using a hammer and chisel in the screwdriver slot to get it started. Once you move it even a little bit the large screwdriver will work.
