I had a new sump pump installed in a very deep cutout in my cellar floor. I know this holds well over 10 gallons but it's been going off every few minutes when the cutout could hold so much more.

How can I adjust it to let more water fill the hole before it pumps out? Is there something I can adjust or do I have to raise the entire thing?

Thanks, glad to find this place.

The answer will depend on what kind of switch is on the pump- some are adjustable while others are not. If the switch is not adjustable, a new adjustable switch can be installed or the pump can be raised up higher in the crock.

When properly installed the pump should maintain the water level below the top of of the building's footing.
