Dont know what to do.

We have never had problems with our water until yesterday. The well has been ever since we owned the house which is over 20years. There is Construction going on up the river they are building and drilling for a new bridge. yesterday after doing two loads of laundry the third was stained Orangeish/red. All the water coming out is that color now. Turned off the water thinking it was sediment due to rain we had recently to let it settle.. Turned it on this morning and it was a little brownish/orange but then shortly there after turned "muddy" again. Last night before I turned it off I took a class of water and set it to see if it would settle which it did and left that sluggy muddy looking reside on the bottom. I was told that they may have hit a vane our well is on causing it to have sediment in and to wait it out from there is to much iron now in the water.. But not sure on that since there was never an issue before.. Any help on how to clear this up would be great.

This may have nothing to do with the bridge.

Do you have an iron filter or water softener?

Do an iron test on a fresh sample taken before any filter or softener.

no we dont have an softerner or Iron Filter.. Never had a need for one before. when I pulled water out this morning it was clear for like 5 mins now back to murkey color..

for your imput it was clear yesterday and today after I posted that.. So whatever the issue was its better and gone now..
