Installed new whirlpool (jetted) tub in new home construction. When tub was filled to check operation, jets were turned on by pushing button, but would not turn off when button was pushed again. Had to be unplugged to turn it off. What could be wrong?

I would guess the button is bad.

Or the relay contacts controlled by the button are fused together.

I would've expected more symptoms if that was the case....burning smell, maybe tripped breaker and such.

The hose may have come loose when you pressurized it to turn the tub on.
