Can someone please tell me why would pump, wiring would have a, push
button, thermal overload device, wired into one leg on a 240 volt. circuit,
that feed power to the submersible pump, by way of pressure switch.
Today is the 1st. time I seen such a device.

NOTE: 20 amp. double pole circuit breaker. Two wire pump.

Thanks.

I have seen a few like that, but most are old pumps, or added by someone as an after thought.
The biggest part of the two wire pumps have two, but I have seen them just one heater.

Generally on a two wire pump, if the heater pops, its time for a new pump.
For that reason, most pump manufacturers don't really offer that any more.
They can still be bought, but are kinda pointless.
