I'm seeking advice concerning seating a toilet and how far recessed the flange can be. Here's a picture of the floor and the flange.

toilet_flange_and_tile.JPG

Bathroom is in a basement, existing area around the flange was not level so self-leveling concrete was poured in the area around the flange, and tile was laid. This results in the surface the toilet will sit on not being level with the existing flange. The wall side (top of picture) of the flange is around 3/4" below the floor surface and the opposite side is just over 1/2" below the floor surface. Unfortunately, the opening in the tile does not currently allow the addition of a flange riser.

Is it advisable to attempt to use wax rings to get a seal in this situation? Will using two thick wax rings create a reliable seal?

It was suggested that I use a Fluidmaster Toilet Bowl Gasket. Any thoughts on this product?

Thanks in advance for your time.

The flange needs to be level and it should set on top of the finished floor, so you're in double trouble. The old flange needs to be removed, and a new one installed at the proper height (and level) This probably is not something that you can DIY without tearing up the floor. I'd call a plumber for this one.

This is something you should have asked before you started working on the floor. A waxless connection should work, IF you install it properly, and that is not always easy to do without some helpers.
