need help...

Hello...

I had a plumber install new basement drain for a bathroom....he set a Sioux Chief knockout drain in the cement and left it for me... I am now ready to install the toilet... question is how do I get the knockoff cap off... the cap sez to whack it with a hammer and then just peel the top off.. I tried that a few times with no luck...any suggestions? thanks, Nick C.

If you are whacking in the right place, you probably just need to whack a little harder! The toilet flanges I have used have a hammner-ready ridge sticking up in the shape of a circle slightly larger than the inside diameter of a wax ring. Hit that ridge, not the center of the plug to be broken out.

that did it...I think I was just afraid to crack something... Guess the old adage of "hit it harder" sometimes works... toilet now working great..thanks again, Nick
