Greetings,

I just completed soldering in a new shower valve. I noticed on the back side of one of my elbows there was no obvious solder buildup that I'm used to seeing.

I wire brushed off all the flux in that area and using a mirror I can see solder in the fitting all the way around, just not outside or pooled on the fitting rim.

would you consider this a good solder? or shall I cut it out and redo?

it is pressurized and no leaks.

thanks
Scott

solder

There is normally NO buildup in a proper joint, just a ring of solder all the way around the joint. If that is what you have, then you did it right.

Thanks.

Have another question.

I was soldering another joint and didn't think I had enough solder in the joint before it cooled. it was only a few seconds so I added flame to add a bit more solder.

Was that okay to do? I've search a bit and it seems like I'm probably okay since no water was introduced.

thanks
