I am trying to install four new faucets in my baths. The first one I couldn't get the stopper to hold water. Everthing else was fine. Returned faucet to Costco. Next onto another sink and faucet (i'm trying to get th plumbers putty oil stain out of the first granite counter so that sink will have to wait). I am installing a price-pfister 8 in wide two handle faucet. Having trouble getting the handles tight. P_F no help. So finally decided not to obsess about the handles (they are as tight as ones I had profesionally installed). Continued on with the install. Everything was fine til I turned on the water. Leaking a lot from the hose connection to the valve bodies . Not even any water getting to the faucet. New water supply lines. I was told I didn't need to use plunber's tape as the water supply lines are compression type. Disconnected one line...put on tape to see if that was the problem. Still mega leaking. I will say the pop up works on this sink. And the drain doesn't leak. Yea! Any ideas? I am new to DIYing. Thinking I may need to call a plumber, but really want to learn how to do it myself! Thanks in advance!

You ARE learning to do it yourself, but not doing a very good job at it. We cannot tell you why you are having those problems because we are not ther to see HOW you are doing it. But, I have NEVER had Price Pfister handles that would not tighten up.

You'll probably need a poultice to get the stains out, and they may not all come out. Check out www.johnbridge.com for some help on that. They've got a few people that specialize in that sort of thing that can help.

thanks everyone

I was already using the poltice trick and it worked great. Got the leaking stopped. It was a strength issue. Hadn't connected the supply lines right. Re-did them and solved my problem. 3 more sinks to go. I now know some of the problems to look out for.
