Wow, I never knew there were entire forums dedicated to toilets before we started looking for a replacement! We are remodeling our bathroom and have tile floor on a slab, with a 10 1/2" rough-in. After reading here, I'd like to get a Toto with with an elongated bowl and the higher seat height.

Are there any Totos made strictly for 10" rough-ins or do I have to get a model that accomodates the converter kit? I found one, the CST 704X.10, on the Toto website, but it seems to be the standard height.

And if not Toto, is there another brand that you could recommend? There are so many (more than I ever would have guessed!) that it is somewhat overwhelming to choose.

Although not an inexpensive option, a plumber could relocate the flange to a proper 12" rough-in without too much difficulty. This would open the entire range of toilet options. Actually to fit a Toto Drake, you would only have to gain about 1/2". I think it should be illegal to have a rough-in less than 12". This problem comes up quite regularly. To my thinking, there is no excuse for a builder or a plumber to set a flange at less than 12". I would also say that more the 12" is pointless as well, but at least a 14" does not limited toilet choices, it just means more space behind the tank than necessary. OK, venting is over.

Thanks for the info. Are the conversion kits durable and dependable or would it be better to get an exact fit (either 10" or have the flange relocated for a 12")? I'd rather not have the flange relocated 'cuz 1) I'm guessing that the conversion kit is less expensive, and 2) I just laid the tile a week ago and I would die a little inside if I had to tear any of it up. lol

And am I missing it or does the 704-10 only come in standard height? We want a higher one (is that ADA?) if possible.

No the C704 only comes either 10" or ADA (C704L).

The Uni-fit rough is fine i have three in my house and no problems with the install or function.

Some people complain that as you using the toilet you can here a dripping noise because the uni-fit is plastic and when the water overfills you can hear it, but once it is flushed and refills it stops.

TOTO now has 10" Toto Drake toilets.
They only need 9-1/4" to install.

CST744EF.10 or CST744SF.10

Comfort height, elongated bowl with either the 1.28 gallon Watersense Eco Flush
or the 1.6 gallon G-Max flush.
