i have an older home in which the toilet drain is located 8 inches from the back wall as opposed to the normal 12 inches. This toilet flange is located on the bottom floor of my bi-level house. Most toilets sold on the market today are made to fit a flange whose center will be 12 inches from the wall. I would like to know whether there are any solutions where I can add something to be able to fit a 12inch drained toilet where my drain is located. Or do I have to search and try to acquire a toilet that is built to fit a drain 8 inches from the wall?

There is no toilet I know of that will fit an 8" rough-in. There are likely several ways to hack this, but only one way to do it right. You need to move the drain so the flange will be roughed-in at 12". Yeah, I know, it won't be easy and it won't be cheap, but you had easy and cheap before. I would recommend you hire a plumber for this job so it is done right the first time. It will probably be cheaper in the long run than trying to hack a DIY job. As you weigh the cost, remember, this is something that will last the life of the house so you sure don't want a half assed job to start off with. Sorry to rain on your parade, but sometimes there just is no easy/cheap way to make a bad plumbing job right.
